The Association of James Braid Courses

The course established at the Nevill in 1914 was originally a nine hole course set down by Willie Park Jnr. When the course was extended some years later James Braid was engaged to design the new holes and when he created the 2nd hole, some 550 yds, it was one of the longest holes around. Harry Colt worked with Braid in the late 19th century and it is recorded that he spent time at the Nevill working with Braid.

The Association of James Braid Courses, formed in 2009 by a Henley Golf Club Past Captain and Past President, now has over 300 member clubs of the some 411 courses James Braid either designed originally or altered.

The courses can be found in Ireland, Wales, England and Scotland as well as one in New York.

Nevill Golf Club members and members of all the clubs in the Association can enjoy preferential green fees at these courses, by booking in advance.
